Civil litigation
Whether you have been sued or need to file a lawsuit, the successful outcome of the case depends not only on you and the evidence that supports you but also on the skill and experience of the lawyer you hire. For more than forty years, I have been privileged to represent individuals, businesses and other organizations in many types of cases, jury and non-jury, in state and federal courts throughout Texas.
Civil appeals
I have served as lead or solo appellate counsel in numerous civil appeals to the Texas courts of appeal and the Supreme Court of Texas.
Real estate
Residential and commercial real estate disputes unfortunately are common, typically caused by claims of defective construction, inadequate engineering or inspection, or deceptive sales practices. Over the years, I have been privileged to represent many homeowners, commercial owners and managers, homebuilders, real estate brokers, engineers and real estate inspectors. It is important to remember that well drafted agreements at the beginning of a real estate transaction can go a long way toward avoiding later disputes and so I frequently have advised my clients on the contents of such agreements.
Insurance
We pay a lot for insurance coverage. When it is necessary to make a claim, a wrongful denial by an insurance company can cause extreme financial hardship. On behalf of many clients, I have used the effective legal remedies contained in the Texas Insurance Code to make insurers stand by their policies.
Administrative law
State administrative agencies exercise ever-increasing authority over professional and business endeavors. The decisions made by these agencies can have profound and sometimes devastating consequences for the person or business involved. I have served as defense attorney for clients who are being investigated or prosecuted by the Attorney General of Texas, and I have represented many professionals and businesses before state agencies, the State Office of Administrative Hearings and the Travis County District Courts.
